Third son of Edwin William Hollinworth of Stanthorpe, Queensland, and grandson of the late Admiral John Ibbotson Hollinworth RN of Southsea England. Career: trained as a draftsman, employed as stock and station agent and wool broker (1893-1901), inventor (1902-1903), Manager of The Australian Mutoscope Co., Ltd (1903-1904), theatrical touring manager and advance agent (1905-1912), theatrical entrepreneur and playwright (1913-1921).
