| Notes | English actress and singer best known for her roles as the "principal boy" in musical burlesques at the Gaiety Theatre. Born into a theatrical family, Farren began acting as a child. From 1868 to 1892, she performed at the Gaiety Theatre, which specialised in musical burlesque, becoming famous in the male and principal boy roles.In the 1880s, she created roles in the series of famous Gaiety burlesques. She also became a co-producer of the Gaiety Theatre. Toured Australia with Fred Leslie in 1888 and 1891. Later in 1891, Farren suffered an attack of rheumatic fever while in Australia. Farren died in London in 1904, aged 56, of cardiac failure. | |
