Notes Company whose name translates as 'the work collective'. Founded in 1983 under the direction of Rangimoana Taylor, performing in schools, polytechs, universities, parks and hospitals. Early shows were based on their reading and depiction of ancient legends, but by the time of their first shows in a conventional theatre - Wellington's new Depot, October 1983 - their performance had been expanded to include a range of contemporary items written by members of the group.
