First by DanceWorks at the Studio, Victorian Arts Center and subsequently included in the repertoire of the Australian Dance Theater. Ideas about contemporary Australia are the basis of the work. Traditional Australian cultural values, based on our colonial links with Britain in the past, are swamped by American "pop" culture, T.V soapies and "a throw-away disposable society" that moves and talks fast, but not always convincingly and often superficially. Related dance metaphors are developed from various dance styles too. |
