Description Yue Ling Jie (Moon Spirit Feasting) is a new opera of passionate energy and radiant beauty drawing its inspiration from puppet shows, movies, trance rituals and Chinese operas performed in the streets to entertain the spirits during the Chinese 'Hungry Ghost Festival'. The work retells several different versions of the story of the moon-goddess Chang O - the woman who steals the 'herb of immortality' from the Archer Hou Yi and is exiled to the moon. The opera can be described as 'a series of ritual encounters with the 'shadow spaces' that proliferate in the fissures betwen these stories'.
