| Description | One of Australia's most successful contemporary dancers and choreographers, Kate Denborough, returns to Japan as part Ancient Future - Australian Arts Festival Japan 2003 to perform "INK" at the Art Theater dB in Osaka in collaboration with Kansai dancers.
"INK" will be a collaborative work with choreographer and dancer, Narumi Kitamura; musician and composer, Makoto Inada; and installation lighting artist, Shota Takahasi. Denborough has proved popular in Japan and around the world. This year she worked with Compagnie Par.b.leux performing in 100 Recontres for the Kunsten Festival des Arts in Brussels and the Festival Montpellier Danse. She is a recipient of a 2003 Asialink grant and will be Choreographer in Residence at Dance Box, Osaka, for 2 months. Denborough is Artistic Director of Kage Physical Theatre, winner of the Jury Prize in the 12th Saitama International Dance Contest. The philosophy behind Kage is to present Dance Theatre which is both rich and raw in its physicality and humour. Movement and design are entwined with an architectural purity to reflect contemporary art, music and fashion. |
