Description | Breathing Space Australia is an ongoing collaboration between Arnolfini in Bristol and The Performance Space in Sydney. In this very special event, five highly original Australian artists present their contemporary performance work alongside their British peers.
Ranging from screen based installation works, to solo dance with spoken text and live sound, to durational performance; these stimulating works represent a small selection of Australia’s exciting contemporary arts practice. Deborah Pollard’s Shapes of Sleep is a sculptural installation and eight-hour durational performance based on video footage of sleeping. The conscious and unconscious movements of the recorded sleepers are presented in miniature, while five live performers move between various sleeping postures. |
