| Description | Adelaide’s Tutti Arts worked with their counterpart organisation in Indonesia, Perspektif, to produce an enchanting exhibition of work by artists with disabilities from both countries.
Take a fun ride in a neon-glowing, pedal-powered cruiser – a sepeda lampu – and join in a fantastical treasure hunt of live performance art. The Riverbank Precinct breaks out with street performance, poetry and interactive art installations from Australia and Indonesia with this fun and collaborative project. You’ll be whisked away in a private sepeda lampu by a Tutti artist to experience small bursts of unique performance art, shedding light on a different world. The various works illuminate the power, magic and humour of life seen through the lens of different perspectives. Shine a light on the unexpected. “Shedding Light draws attention to people who are often invisible or suffer discrimination and who are reinventing themselves through their art. Crucially, the artists are no longer identified as outsiders or by their disabilities but as artists. The inclusion of this work in the visual arts program embodies the mutual cooperation that is the raison d’être of OzAsia, and provides a foundation for future collaboration.” (RealTime issue #130 Dec-Jan 2016 pg. 8-9, http://www.realtimearts.net/article/issue130/12094) |
