| Description | Morphic is a dance theatre and music work examining the relationships and dependencies we have with technology and the idiosyncrasies that are manifested as a result. The work draws parallels between the 21st century digital evolution and the first known prehistoric bird, the Archaeopteryx, considered to be the pivotal animal between avian dinosaurs and modern bird species. Just as winged species were instinctively driven to adapt themselves to take full flight, the human race is also driven by a constant demand to update, upgrade and #hashtag.
The original music draws from musique concrète and contemporary classical styles. The “Morphic” score includes a sample of the composer’s string quartet work “28”, composed for and recorded by the NOISE quartet by Bob Scott and Lyle Chan released on Vexations840. As part of a showing called Vitality. |
