| Description | “This evening the doors of the Gaiety Theatre will once more be thrown open, and the Deaf and Dumb and Blind Entertainers will occupy the stage, when they will give an exhibition of the Braille system, songs, instrumental selections, etc. Mr Morgan, who was born deaf and dumb, as the result of nine years training under the oral system, is able to converse with people, although not able to hear a sound. He is described as a capable actor, and takes part in a couple of sketches with Mr W. Taylor, the leading deaf and dumb member of the company, who in addition is "a first-class comedian." Mr A Solomon is "a most accomplished vocal and instrumental musician." Mr John Irwin can play the piano, saxophone, and violin, and is the possessor of a good tenor voice. Miss Annie Drummond has developed a splendid voice, and "is acknowledged to be the leading blind soprano in the colonies." Miss Campbell is the accompanist, and Miss Woodward a Club swinger. The programmes selected are presented with care and are of the popular variety, and therefore there should be a crowded attendance. It is announced this company has no connection with the Blind Musical Students.” | |
