| Description | “An excellent entertainment was given by the Deaf and Dumb and Blind Entertainers in the Lyric Theatre on Tuesday evening. Naturally, a pathetic interest was felt in the performance of those who in greater or less degree had been deprived of one or more essential sense, and this was shown in the large audience which attended. The programme opened with an exhibition of manual, sign and oral systems of communication as used by the deaf and dumb [… also included some musical acts…] Then Messrs Morgan and W. Taylor gave a comic sketch “The Dentist” which provoked much mirth. The various movements were of course gone through in dumb show.” | |
