Byron was a Manchester-born actor, writer and journalist who wrote a large number of plays for the London stage. This double-column playbill advertises the 63rd London stage performance of his play 'Lancashire Lass', the main bill of the evening. The first three acts are set in Lancashire or Liverpool docks (which served as the opportunity to display a large steamer as a set-piece in the scene), and the final act takes place on "An Australian sheep farm".
