| Description |
Colin McColl has built an enviable international reputation for his company. Twice invited to Edinburgh, Downstage has also performed at Festivals in London, Oslo and Sydney. Barbara Ewing (Brass, Sam, When the Whales Came) stars in McColl's unique version of Mother Courage, which brings all the power of Bertolt Brecht's play to our own history. As she and her children ply their grocery waggon through the war-torn back blocks, Mother Courage faces a dilemma; to reconcile the conflicting roles of Mother and Trader. She lives off the war. What will it demand in return? Designed by Tony Rabbit, |
