Description Graeme Murphy's Orpheus, created especially for The Royal New Zealand Ballet, was described as 'sensational' by the Auckland Star. With the spectacular stage design of Kristian Fredrikson, Orpheus is a provocative neo-classical ballet which tells the story of Orpheus and his fatal journey to the Underworld to retrieve his dead wife Eurydice. Murphy, artistic director of the Sydney Dance Company, has won the praise of critics and audiences alike from New York to Covent Garden. The music by Igor Stravinsky will be played by the Wellington Regional Orchestra (conductor William Southgate).
