Pleasure Excursion of the steamer " Eagle." — The Eagle started from Sydney on Tuesday morning, at nine o'clock, for Botany Bay, having on board as many respectably dressed passengers as she could conveniently accommodate, and after a pleasant run anchored off the Sir Joseph Banks Hotel, when refreshments of the most choice descriptions were provided. A great number of people had also repaired there by land conveyances, and many of those who had felt sea sickness eagerly availed themselves on the return home. The building was begun by Thomas Kellet and J. Drew in 1840, and it (then known as the Banks Inn) had by the 1850s developed gardens, a private zoo and provision for outdoor sports. It became a popular weekend and holiday pleasure ground.
