Moliere wrote Le Medicin Malgre Lui (The Mock Doctor) in 1666. Indeed, Moliere had quite an artistic obsession with the medical profession, which in the 17th century France occupied a status a little below God. Moliere made doctors and their gullible patients the butt of his comic wit. |
