Description It's gloriously gory and wickedly funny! This ravishingly inventive 'junk opera' drags adults kicking and screaming - with guilty delight - into a world of dark fairy tales. Based on Heinrich Hoffman's cautionary tales 'for adults and other children,' the show combines the best ingredients: a Victorian toy theatre including special effects, puppetry, and trick costumes. From the outset, Shockheaded Peter bubbles with cruel fun. We are lured into a web of wickedness by a ridiculously sinister Master of Ceremonies, only to be beguiled further by the strangely amiable Martyn Jacques whose extraordinary falsetto voice belies the horridness of Hoffman's rhymes. These deliciously nasty, funny stories are for naughty adults and children alike.
