| Description |
The spoilt and idle great whiteheaded hope of his family, Denis Geoghan, has failed his doctor's exams at Trinity College for the umpteenth time. Fed up with shame and sacrifice, the family decides that Denis has to emigrate. But there are, of course, complications. Set timelessly in rural Ireland, where small town pomposity, delusion and parlour gossip reign supreme, Lennox Robinson's classic 1916 comedy of deception, double-dealing and face-saving runs deliciously amok. An eccentric, highly assured theatrical feast performed by an ensemble company famed for its inventiveness and clowning skills. |
