| Description |
Appallingly funny, scintillatingly shocking and morally perverse, The Homecoming has been Pinter’s most popular and controversial play since its premiere in 1965. Max, a retired butcher, is the patriarch of his all-male, testosterone-charged household. One night, the eldest son returns home unexpectedly, bringing with him a wife the family never knew existed. What follows is a challenge to the moral and social order that continues to hypnotise and appal audiences. Its sparse, ambiguous and deceptively poetic dialogue is a hallmark of Pinter’s work and remains a landmark in the evolution of theatrical style. With a stellar cast, including Lisa Chappell McLeod’s Daughters, Michael Lawrence The Bach, Eddie Campbell The Strip, David Aston The Matrix, Ross Duncan and Sam Walsh, The Homecoming promises to be yet another highoctane night of theatre from this impressive Auckland company. |
