| Description |
Orchestras, consisting of tom-toms, sheets of brass, and sticks, were everywhere heard, and the performers seemed to derive intense delight from the clatter of their unmusical instruments. The Chinese Theatre was once more erected on its old site near the gasworks, and a succession of entertainments drew crowds of spectators throughout the day and night. |
