Description |
Canberra playwright Joan McGillivray has set herself a difficult task in dramatising the life of Lucy Osburn, founding Nightingale nurse in Australia...McGillivray gives Lucy a companion in the form of Jane Digby, a notorious English adultress who ran off with a Bedouin sheik into the desert. In their conversations, real and imaginary, Lucy is able to work out what she needs to do to tame the egos of the male medical staff at the Sydney Infirmary just as she had once tamed wild horses. |
