Description |
Don Juan in Hell is the third act of Shaw's Man and Superman, played in isolation. It is a dream sequence in which the 20th century counterparts and meet up in hell...Shaw's hell is not the sulphurous pit of the Bible, nor is it the five-ringed inferno of Dante...rather, the hell in which Don Juan broods and debates is a sociable sphere of "perpetual romance" in which the sentiments of love, virtue, heroism and beauty exist in glorious unreality without the contradictions of hard fact. |
