| Description |
Fuente Ovejuna dates from the early 1600s, though the events
on which it is based occurred 140 years previously. It is a play about honor and dishonor, military oppression and communcal solidarity. Specifically, it is a play about an Analusian hilltop village which suffers at the hands of its brutal military overlord, one Fernando Gomer, who belongs to an order of chivalry...in the end the villagers rise up and murder their oppressor. |
