Olegas Truchanas arrived in Tasmania from Lithuania as a displaced person afer WW2 and fell in love with the untamed west. Through hsi solitary and often dangerous bush walks, he climbed mountains and became the first European to navigate the Gordon river alone. He took photographs along the way, which he showed in slide/lecture nights back in Hobart to packed houses. |
