Performing in the concert were a number of ensembles which were formed for development purposes by the Canberra City Band from within its membership.
There is considerable history about the band contained in the programme. Not unimportant was its formation in 1925 as a more positive attraction to weekend disturbances in the camps of the workers who were working on building the Capital, following their return from Quenabeyan hotels (Canberra at the time was "dry"). |
