Description The central point - the right of a parent to take her 16 year-old child out of the state school system and educate him at home. Battles with bureaucracy at all levels ensue. With its fluid movement and multipurpose set the play comfortably incorporates elements of symbolism and farce in a series of strong realistic scenes. ACT Review.

Further Information NZ Premiere at Fortune Theatre. Roger Hall wrote the play while on a writing fellowship at New Mexico State University, and so it is set in that area. Hall says he chose to leave it that way to enhance the objectivity of New Zealand audiences. This was the Fortune's first production for 1984, following a hiatus.
