					| Description |
'… We have reverted to a decor nearer to Shakespeare's own time. … Murray Hutchinson and I are striving to create a world at once sophisticated and on the very edge of the supernatural and natural universe. Our starting points have been the portraits of Titian's men and Holbein's women clad in black… In the edition of Holinshed from which Shakespeare worked there is an illustration showing Macbeth and the witches. These last are not the hags of tatters as often seen but stately and decayed beings of Jacobean demonology. This is how we hope our presentation will appear. |
