Description Subtitle: The Awakening. The play, while having resonance about several contemporary issues including Maori leadership, is set in Malaya in 1958. It's during the 12-year Malaya Emergency, when New Zealand and other Commonwealth troops were sent to stop communist guerrillas. Two Maori soldiers -- Rapata, a bullish young infantryman, and Moko, a seasoned scout, get thrown together in the middle of the jungle. The two face questions about leadership. Who is a leader? What is a leader? What is leadership?
