Inaugural production for The Central Theatre, co-founded by Mary Amoore and Randell Wackrow: Involved in Auckland rep 'at a time when the amateur theatre was on the decline', Amoore and Wackrow tired of the 'dreary situation' of 'social theatre' where there was a frustrating obsession with petty detail. They wanted 'play theatre'. So in 1961 they amassed £100 and started their own.
