Description …When the poetry is almost entirely obscured, as it was here, play has to stand as a spectacle and I do not beleive it can do so. A serious production like this demands serious criticism. We depend upon such groups as the Auckland University College Drama Society for 'uncommercial' plays. Much of my criticism of Dr Faustus is rather a criticism of the complete dearth of facilities. In the end I could perhaps have found as much to be laudatory of as I have found to be critical of. That, I think, says a great deal.
