Description … The story is a trite romance. Mavis, a retired cinema usherette, lives on memories and chocolate biscuits. Abbie, her 30-something niece, works in marketing and promotions and has lost faith and interest in her work. She takes off on her own to Morocco, has typically naieve tourist experiences and falls first for a camel, then for the smooth but enigmatic Kamal. Mavis dies and joins Abbie for a bit of fun then goes on to join all the stars in heaven. Abi heads home - but turns back to Morocco, Kamal and the camel. …Juan, an ancient stone turtle who supports a cathedral pillar and utters aphorisms originated by Italo Calvino, Lily Tomlin, Aristotle and George Bernard Shaw, punctuates proceedings. ….
