Backblocks and Beyond is a celebration of works by NZ women writers that have not been performed for more than half a century. Two of the plays were written by one of New Zealand's most successful and least acclaimed one-act playwrights, Violet Targuse. Fear and Rabbits, which both feature in the lineup, have themes of escape and the lack of independence for women at the time and won national and international recognition. |
