Description Tiri O Waitangi Mahana is Maori, female, a warrior and 160 years old. In Witi Ihimaera's first play, Tiri Mahana, a woman born on the day of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, talks of her life. In doing so she touches with love, humour and passion on events that have affected the lives of all New Zealanders, from the land wars to the tour of '81, to the present day. It's about our history, how nations are made and how the human spirit survives to carry us through into the new millennium.
