| Description |
Set in 16th century Ireland. The rights of the indigenous population and the question of religious imposition by the conquerors are the moral issues explored. The play revolves around the poet Edmund Spencer, out of his depth in savage Ireland, holding a castle for Elizabeth I. William Shakespeare and a couple of acting mates is looking for fame and fortune on the emerald isle. |
