Description Loosely based on the story by the Brothers Grimm. Two children are sent to pick berries in the forest. As night falls, they lose their ay and stumble across a beguiling candy house. The evil witch who resides there imprisons Hansel in a cage and fattens him up.But quick-thinking Gretel tricks the witch into her own oven and saves the day. The parents arrive, chastened and relieved. All is well, but the children and parents alike have learned a valuable lesson about the evil lurking in our midst. Director Michael Hurst calls his interpretation 'fairytale opera with a kick'.
