					| Description |
A romantic and poetic drama in four acts. Re-arranged and partly re-written by the author for Mr Rignold, and as played by him at the Olympic Theatre, London, Easter 1881 and Her Majesty's Opera House Melbourne at the inauguration of the dramatic season 1885; also at the Theatre Royal Adelaide with enormous success. The play depicts the life which was led by the rugged miners in the old digging days of California, when men's passions were aroused in their eager desire to obtain 'the yellow ore which sways the world', and which has been so graphically illustrated in the pages of Bret Harte and other writers. |
