| Further Information |
A benefit performed by the Amateur Theatricals of the Royal Artillery for the widows and orphans of the late Sergeants A. Stewart and J. Egan, under the patronage of Colonel O'Brien and the officers of the Garrison of Auckland. To conclude with the farce of The Goose with the Golden Eggs. The Circus performance staged elsewhere during the week, headed by W.H. Foley, was not presented on this night, 'in order that the charitable benefit at the Theatre Royal might be well attended.' (Daily Southern Cross, Volume XX, Issue 2242, 27 September 1864, Page 4) Reported that the performance raised £30, clear of all expenses, and that the amateur performance was a very creditable one. (Daily Southern Cross, Volume XX, Issue 2247, 3 October 1864, Page 4).
