Into the particulars of the story there is not the slightest need to enter, since it adheres very closely to the poem, the language of which is very freely introduced. The drama cannot be deemed a success, for it falls far short of any realisation of the poem. The added matter is weak and halting, and the play is made to depend far too much upon lime-light and tableaux, which, however pretty they may be, are in the highest degree unnatural. |
