| Description |
Solo Flight tells the true story of Jeanette Piccard who, in the 1930's, set a world record as the first woman in space by manning a hot air balloon into the stratosphere. She was undeterred by the fate of three Russian cosmonauts who had earlier the same year attempted the feat which had resulted in their deaths. This extraordinary will to live and achieve stood her in good stead when, in 1947, she was one of twelve women irregularly (illegally) ordained as priests of the Episcopal Church, a priesthood formerly confined to males. |
