Description |
"The story of Emily, abandoned by her mother at the age of 14. Emily overcomes that early setback to rise through marriage to become a society figure and matriarch of the family home, Emerald Hill... a high society hostess and the matriarch of a distinguished household. But behind her success is a history of poverty, secrets and lies. In scenes from the decadent glory days of the Singaporean Peranakan community of the 1950s, Heng takes the audience on a journey back to the days when the Chinese Straits community celebrated all things British." |
