Description Adapted from Forster's play. The true story of NZ missionary Thomas Kendall and his wife Jane, who go to the Bay of Islands in 1814. Reverend Samuel Marsden instructs Kendall to write the first Maori-English dictionary. This brings him into close contact with Hongi Hika, a Nga Puhi chief. Jane Kendall is dismayed when her husband goes back to London with Hongi to get muskets form King George IV> Left behind, she has a child with a convict servant, and when Kendall returns, his desire for utu takes them all into 'the vert heart of Satan's Dominion'.
