Surguladze has played the role of Carmen hundreds of times in Japan, Europe and and USA. Hume first created this interpretation of Carmen 25 years ago. First played in Perth, then for Opera Australia in Sydney and Melbourne, 2005. It has been reworked for the 2013 NZ production. (Listener article).
