Some controversy occurred when it was suggested that Leary's part should have been played by a trans actor. Circa Theatre, Wellington 30 April - 29 May 2021. For the Circa production, Jthan Morgan played Mark/Mia, with the full support of Simon Leary, and Marcus McShane did the lighting, based on Sean Lynch's design.
