Description In 1977, there were a number of child custody cases in England in which the courts made adverse comments or passed judgements against lesbian mothers. Push Mother, Push stemmed from the desire to intervene in this political "issue", to defend the right to motherhood of women who had become lesbians and who were being censured by the State. Push Mother, Push was first performed in May 1977 at the Drill Hall Theatre, London.
