Hits of the 70s, 80s and 90s is an intimate, female-driven play, sending its audience down a rabbit hole that’s less Alice in Wonderland and more Australian rock music underworld. Written by Rebecca Meston and directed by Elena Carapetis, the script explores the intense relationship a young person has with popular music. And about how songs, coming at you via the radio (at least in the olden days), can act as a kind of cannonball. Flying you out of your room and transporting you to all new lands and possibilities. If you're a girl dreaming of a life in the music industry, this feels like a pretty cool trip. |
