Fou Ts'ong was born in Shanghai in 1934 and grew up in an intellectual atmosphere in the old China. He first developed a taste for Western music from the recordings he heard as a child and at the age of ten received his first formal music training from a Chinese piano teacher and went on to study under Mario Paci, Italian conductor of the Shanghai Municipal Orchestra. |
