Baris is an allegory depicting the universal cycle of change. Death, preservation and re-birth fight a symbolic battle of the Old and New Order. At Dusk is one of the last four songs that Strauss composed. Five dancers translate its gently shifting moods into a flow of shape and movement. Conflict is based on and adapted from Lorca's "House of Bernada Alba". A rich man dies, leaving his wealth to his eldest daughter. Elegant Solutions is a dance which captures the gaiety and sparkling wit of the music and give way to a carefree display of joie de vivre. |
