| Description |
Based on Beaumarchais' play. The plot centres on Figaro and his betrothed Susanna who are servants of the Count Almaviva and so need his approval before they can get married. The count is mainly interested in seducing Susanna before the wedding takes place. McColl has set the opera in the House of Almaviva, a Madrid or Seville fashion house during the past 20 years….'The fashion house is great in that it allows us to reference the 18th century all the time in the clothes of John Galliano and Vivian Westwood who, in their fashions, refer back to those times'. |
