Apart from a Opera Australia production that toured to NZ in October 1976, this was the first staging of Jenufa in New Zealand. The production itself, first staged in 1989 at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, was imported. The production was sung in Czech. Music played by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
