| Description |
The doomed love story of Alfredo and Violetta. Looks unflinchingly at the closeness of pleasure and pain, glamour and desolation, love and loneliness and ultimately, life and death. Designer Christina Smith's towering construction of black tiles and mirror glass, described as a 'giant half-opened jewellery box', is used in different ways, together with grotesque chandeliers. The 'jewellery box' becomes a cage that entraps Violetta. |
